The highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has begun, igniting enthusiasm among cricket fans across the country. The upcoming match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium on Thursday is expected to draw a large audience from Kolkata and neighboring districts.
To accommodate the convenience of IPL lovers and metro commuters, the Kolkata Metro Rail Authority has announced additional services. According to Kaushik Mitra, the Metro Rail Public Relations Officer, special train services will run after each IPL match at Eden Gardens.
Mitra added that the special train service will depart from Esplanade at noon on match days, with two trains leaving at 12:15 pm. One train will be bound for Dakshineswar, while the other will travel to poet Subhash. Both trains will arrive at their destination at 12:48 pm.
The decision to introduce these additional services was made to facilitate the smooth transportation of cricket enthusiasts and metro commuters to and from the stadium during IPL matches. Eden Gardens is set to host several IPL matches on April 6, 14, 23, as well as May 8, 11, and 20. With the provision of additional services, the Kolkata Metro Rail Authority aims to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free journey for all.
